Training of biosafety trainers

On June 8-10, 2022, the Lugar Center for Public Health Research  of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health will host the hands-on training/practical session  within the Biosafety Trainers (TtT) training framework.

TtT has been carrying out through a hybrid training process. In March-May, 2022 the training was conducted through online sessions, and a 3-day practical training will be performed on site. Trainings are provided by Biosafety Experts of the National Institute of Public Health and Environment of Netherlands (RIVM) with financial support from the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) under the EU CoE Project P-53 "Strengthening the National Legal Framework and Provision of Specialized Training on Bio-Safety and Bio-Security in Central Asian Countries ".

20 representatives of different types of laboratories take part in the training process. After completion of TtT they should use the knowledge gained   during the course to share with peer colleagues.

Laboratory specialists from the Lugar Center and the Regional Laboratory Network of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, Regional branched of  Laboratory of Ministry of Agriculture, representatives from Aversi, Evex and Geo-Hospitals Clinical holdings, as well as a laboratory employee from Tbilisi State University are involved in the Biosafety TtT.

The aim of the training of biosafety trainers is to strengthen national capacity in the field of biosafety and to better prepare the country for public health challenges and emergences.
