On September 30, 2020, the National Center for Disease Control and
Public Health hosted the meeting between the Director General of the Center and
the representatives of the The International Centre for
Antimicrobial Resistance Solution. The meeting discussed future cooperation on antimicrobial resistance
issues. The parties also reviewed the situation related to COVID-19 and the
response and control measures in Georgia and the Kingdom of Denmark.
It
should be mentioned that within the framework of the ICARS
delegation's visit to Georgia, on September 29, 2020, a Memorandum of
Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons
from the Occupied Territories, Labour,
Health and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Environmental
Protection and Agriculture and the The International Centre
for Antimicrobial Resistance Solution “On the
Establishment of a Partnership on Antimicrobial Stewardship in Healthcare
Facilities and Agricultural and Veterinary Settings”.
At the
meeting, Robert Skov, Scientific Director of the ICARS underlined the
successful cooperation with the National Center for Disease Control and Public
Health and expressed hope that this cooperation will further contribute to the implementation of the objectives of
the National AMR Strategy in Georgia and reduce the inappropriate and
irrational use of antimicrobials in medical institutions, which will lead to a
reduction of infections and antimicrobial resistance associated with medical
services.
