Medical supervision and domestic service implementation protocol (Interim), during temporary isolation period of individuals from severe/complex Epid-situation countries entering Georgia

Predestined to fully implement established appendix N1 of this statement “Temporary methodological recommendations in the management of those infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) case).

  1. Recommendations for medical specialists monitoring individuals in self-isolation (Individually or in organized groups)

  1. It is essential to work with Personal Protective Equipment (Future PPE), in order to protect oneself from those infected with asymptomatic forms. PPE is a list of compulsory items of personal protection for employees carrying out different types of services for isolated individuals.

a.a) Essential equipment:

a.a.a) Medical robe with fastening on the back (Disposable – can be eliminated, Reusable – after completion of medical supervision, is put in a polyethylene bag or special box for future decontamination, washing and repeated usage);

a.a.b) Medical mask (Is subject to be eliminated after completion of Medical supervision)

a.a.c) Disposable gloves (After taking temperature with contactless thermometer from every isolated individual, are subject to be processed with disinfection solutions)

a.a.d) Disposable shoe covers (To carry out medical supervision, the number of shoe covers should be relevant with the number of rooms intended for isolated individuals, are disposable and eliminated right after exiting every room)

a.a.e) Disposable scrub cap (Is not necessary, in case of usage, should be eliminated right after the work is done.)

a.a.f) Contactless or Mercury-in-glass Thermometer (Every isolated individual should be given immediately after isolation, once the isolation period is over the thermometer can be disinfected).

a.a.g ) 2 ( two ) firm Polyethylene bags( One for used disposable products and second, for gathering reusable items. ) It is allowed to throw firmly sealed polyethylene bag with disposable items, along with non-hazardous medical residue or household waste containers.


  1. Recommendations for isolating affected individuals in one building/wing in a disciplined manner

a) Individuals with identical isolation periods can be isolated in one building or a wing of the building, in separate rooms or family members - cohort. Isolating rooms must have independent Washroom, Ventilation, Television service and Internet usage.

b) Individuals in isolation, throughout the whole isolation period, are allowed to be in their own clothes, in their assigned room (building). In case of urgent need/ necessity to having distance contact with visitors isolated individuals should be equipped with / maintained with:

b.a) Medical mask / face mask

b.b) Disposable shoe covers

b.c) Personal disinfectant for disinfecting hands on a regular basis, preferably alcohol based (it is allowed to use one disinfectant during cohort isolation)

c) Hands and body drying inventory and linen must be changed 2-3 times a week. Used drying inventory and linen is gathered in a firm polyethylene packages for future washing.

d) after the individual is infected and isolated for treatment in the hospital, all drying inventory and bed linen in use by abovementioned individual is subject to disinfection in separated containers.

e) A room assigned to Infected individual and areas for general usage (halls, corridors etc.) are disinfected.


  1. Recommendations for personnel carrying out everyday household service (cleaning, supplying food/products) for isolated individuals organized in one building/wing


  1. Household service is carried out by hired individuals who are trained, or individuals who work (/ live) in the same building, also trained and equipped with Personal Protective equipment.

       b)  Everyday household service personnel are recommended:

b.a) Medical robe with fastening on the back (Disposable – can be eliminated, Reusable – after completion of medical supervision, is put in a polyethylene bag or special box for future decontamination, washing and repeated usage);

b.b) Medical mask (Can be disposed after usage)

b.c) Waterproof gloves (Can be disinfected after completion of medical supervision)

b.d) waterproof shoes (Can be disinfected) and/or shoe covers (Can be put in a polyethylene bag and disposed along with household residue)

b.e) Disposable scrub cap (Not necessary, In case of usage, is eliminated after the work is done)

b.f) 2 (two) firm Polyethylene bags (One for used disposable products and second, for gathering reusable items.) It is allowed to throw firmly sealed polyethylene bag with disposable items, along with non-hazardous medical residue or household waste containers.)

  1. Individuals ensuring protection of buildings/location with isolated individuals must:

  1. Usage of medical mask with disposing it every 3-4 hours

  2. Personal disinfectant for disinfecting hands

  3. At the location/building with isolated individuals, it is necessary to additionally have, in case of emergencies, at least one pack of medical gown with fastening on the back (or one-piece gown), shoe cover, medical mask and respirator in stock.
