title
According
to the available data there is no evidence that pregnant women are at high risk
of COVID–19 infection. However, changes of immune system in their bodies during
pregnancy may increase the risk of some infections, therefore it
is important to protect them from coronavirus infection.
Accordingly, in the event of an epidemic, all
antenatal and perinatal care providers should consider the following
recommendations:
a)
Antenatal care provider establishes communication with all pregnant women
registered in their medical facility (by telephone, internet and any other
available online service) and provides recommendations on safety and rules of relationship
with medical facility under the COVID-19 pandemic;
b) During pregnancy in case of acute respiratory symptoms
(dry throat, dry cough, high fever, diarrhea, etc.), primary communication with
the family doctor/obstetrician-gynecologist is carried out by telephone
consultation, during which a detailed medical anamnesis is collected on patient’s
complaints as well as to reveal risky contacts for infection with COVID -19
(including the travel history);
(c)
In the event that an anamnesis of COVID-19 infection is not associated with a
risky contacts, the management of the pregnancy (if necessary at home) shall be
performed by the family doctor in communication with the
obstetrician-gynecologist of antenatal care provider, taking into account the
patient's condition and gestation age;
d)
The following recommendations should be considered regarding the visit of a
pregnant to a medical facility:
·
Telephone and internet services should
be used for consultation with the doctor;
·
If necessary a visit to the medical
facility should be scheduled at a time when contact with other patients is
completely ruled out;
·
Additional visits must be limited
as much as possible;
·
For outpatient admission and
consultation should be used the consulting room, the waiting room of which is
separated from the common waiting area of the facility;
·
During the visit to the facility,
the pregnant should wear a mask and treat her hands with antiseptic/sanitizer
before entering;
·
All medical care providers should
be equipped with a surgical mask and strictly adhere to appropriate safety
precautions.
e) All pregnant women with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 infections (regardless of the severity of the disease and gestation age) are to be hospitalized in the perinatal service
provider inpatient medical facility identified by the relevant order of the
Minister;
f)
In case of a negative result of the COVID-19 test, the decision to hospitalize
the pregnant is made by the family
doctor and obstetrician-gynecologist of
antenatal care provider, taking into account the severity of the disease and
the gestation age;
g)
As soon as the signs of respiratory infection
(high fever, cough, shortness of breath, etc.) are revealed with
pregnant women who are in quarantine/self-isolation, regardless of the severity
of the disease and the gestation age, they are to be hospitalized in the perinatal
service provider inpatient medical facility identified by the relevant order of
the Minister.
