Project Summary
a). Project Objectives:
To strengthen capacity of the State Immunization and VPD programs in Georgia at all levels to ensure access to high quality and safe immunization services and well-functioning VPD surveillance.
Objective 1: Implementation of activities to improve routine immunization services
Objective 2: Implementation of activities to improve surveillance for VPDs
Objective 3: Implementation of activities to improve assessment and monitoring of immunization coverage
b). Project implementation:
Initial assessment visits to all selected areas
Training of PH workers and health care providers on aspects of immunization program requiring improvement
Monitoring/supportive supervision visits to selected areas
Assisting local PHC in defining plans for increasing immunization coverage in their respective areas
Training of PH workers and health care providers on aspects of measles and rubella surveillance program requiring improvement
Monitoring/supportive supervision visits to each targeted area
Assisting PHC in defining plans for strengthening measles-rubella surveillance in their respective areas
Identification and recruitment of CRS surveillance sites in Tbilisi (at least 3 sites)
Training of personnel from CRS surveillance sites on CRS surveillance matters
Monitoring performance of surveillance sites
Contracting an IT service provider to address technical and programming aspects required to strengthen and improve the Immunization Management Module.
c). Expected results:
Strengthening the capacity of the State Immunization Program and Surveillance System for vaccine-preventable diseases in Georgia.
